William E. Pratt, 77, of Everett, PA, formerly of Littlestown, Johnstown, and Ellwood City, PA, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Bridging Life/ Dove House Hospice in Westminster, MD. He died peacefully with family by his side.
Bill was born October 31, 1944, in Ellwood City, PA, the son of the late William L. and Letitia (Lordo) Pratt.
Bill graduated with the class of 1962 at Lincoln High School, where he played on the championship baseball team. He enrolled in Geneva College, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. Bill was hired by Bethlehem Steel, where he worked for 37 years as a metallurgical engineer. When the Johnstown plant closed, Bill was one of nine employees who were retained and transferred to the Bethlehem Steel plant in Sparrows Point, MD, where he worked until he retired in 2002.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapshooting, winning many awards as a member of the Quemahoning Trap and Field Club. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, woodworking and boating. Above all, Bill loved his family, and he led a full life.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roberta Streeter Pratt as well as their four children, William Pratt and his wife Ann, of Butler, PA, Sara Pratt and her husband Peter Gill, of Boulder, CO, Jennifer Weaver and her husband David, of Gettysburg, PA, and Kristen Mooney and her husband Kevin, of Gettysburg, PA; and four grandchildren Henry and Margaret Mooney and Nate and Avery Gill. He is also survived by his sisters Joanna Karcher and her husband Joe, Carol Fair and her husband Dick and Jean Minteer and her husband Dewey and many nieces and nephews.
