William Carroll "Bill" Brown, Jr., 56 passed away after a brief illness on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the York Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1954 in Frederick, Maryland the son of Mildred V. (Warfield) Brown Stambaugh of Gettysburg and the late William C. Brown, Sr.

Bill had been employed with Dal-Tile, Gettysburg and the Emmitsburg Glass Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0121 in Emmitsburg, MD. Loved by many, Bill enjoyed music and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his step-father Lester Lee Stambaugh, Gettysburg; son, Justin L. Brown, Gettysburg; a granddaughter; sisters, Melissa Barnes, Gettysburg and Rita L. Brown, Westminster, MD; brothers, Kevin A. Brown and his wife Hazel, Irving B. Brown, Tyrone E. Brown, Malcolm B. Brown, Mark B. Brown all of Westminster, MD, Don A. Brown, Westover, MD and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Trina A. Brown.

A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Pastor Daryl A. Foster officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at 1:30PM for a graveside service at St. James Cemetery, 2901 Wakefield Valley Road (corner of Wakefield Valley Road and Route 31), New Windsor, Maryland. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Barnes, J.R. Winston, Kenneth Brockton, Kevin Johnson, B.J. Abreu and Nick Simms.

The family respectfully requests memorial donations in honor of Bill be made to the Peters Funeral Home, Inc., 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 to help defray funeral expenses.
