Obituary

Vera Lee Culver, 84 of Gettysburg quietly passed in Gettysburg Hospital on Sunday, October 17, 2010.

She was born October 11, 1926 in Niota, Tennessee the daughter of the late Lee and Lena Mae (Jenkins) Knox.

Prior to her marriage to Clyde Culver, Jr. in 1957, she worked for Pan Am. A 40 year resident of Gettysburg, she and her husband owned and operated Fort Defiance Museum, The Blue and Gray Museum and the Barn. She was active in the local DAR chapter where she was past regent. Mrs. Culver was a member of the Garden Club, Book Club and was a past president of the Women's Club. An avid social dancer at Penn Mar Park, she was also a line dance instructor for the Silver Liners.

She is survived by her sons, Lee Culver of Miami Springs, Florida, Ray Culver of Gettysburg and Lynn Culver of Cleveland, Ohio. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Culver Morton.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 AM at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. Friends will have an opportunity to share memories with the family on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service. There will be a luncheon in the fellowship hall at the church immediately following the service.

The Peters Funeral Home, Inc. 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg is assisting the family with the arrangements.
