Sara E. (Scott) Oaks, 85, formerly of Gettysburg and Greencastle, died Friday, October 22, 2010 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was the wife of Kenneth S. Oaks, who died in 1988.

Born March 9, 1925 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Blossom) Scott.

Mrs. Oaks was a dedicated member of Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church and its Women's Guild. A graduate of Gettysburg High School, she and her husband owned and operated the Oaks Family Farm in Greeencastle.

Surviving is her daughter, Diane Oaks Ransome and her husband Terry of Kernersville, NC; her sister, Mary Agnes Scott Smith of New Freedom, PA; her niece, Daune Poklis of Richmond, VA; and a number of cousins.

The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday in Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, 1865 Knoxlyn Road, Gettysburg, with Pastor Dale Williams officiating. The family will receive friends between 10 and 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Lower Marsh Creek Cemetery, Gettysburg.
