He was born July 8, 1947 in Gettysburg the son of Samuel E. Green, Sr., Gettysburg and the late Kathleen (Furney) Green.
Sam graduated from Gettysburg High School and retired from MET ED as a lineman. He drove school bus for the Gettysburg School District for 10 years. His memberships included the Gettysburg Moose #1526 where he was past governor; the Gettysburg Eagles #1562; the Gettysburg Little League and past member of the Gettysburg Elks. Sam enjoyed working in his wood shop, camping and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his son and loving daughter-in-law, Travis and Samantha Green, Gettysburg, grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail Green, Gettysburg and nephew, Gregory Reaves, Somerset.
He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Reaves.
A service to celebrate the life of Sam Green will be on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 at 11AM at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York Street, Gettysburg with Pastor Garry Sheaffer officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg. A second viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be private.
Contributions in memory of Sam Green may be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or to the Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 260 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
