Ruth V. (Nunemaker) Wright, 93 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Villages at Gettysburg. She was the loving wife of the late John F. Wright.
Born Sunday, July 20, 1924 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Estella (Snyder) Nunemaker.
Mrs. Wright graduated from Gettysburg High School in the early 40's and then went on to serve her country by joining the WAVES, which was the World War II women's branch of the United States Naval Reserve; Ruth worked at Columbia Gas and was a long time member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg.
Ruth is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline M. Wright of Gettysburg; two nieces, Beverly Bauer of Sunburry, OH, Janet McDonald of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Wendy B. Kane and her husband John of Gettysburg, Dustin Wright of Gettysburg; two grandchildren Lillian and Aubrey Kane; many loving great nieces, great nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Dennis F. Wright, four sisters, and one nephew.
A service to celebrate the life of Ruth V. (Nunemaker) Wright will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and then again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg with military honors rendered by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg PA 17325.
