Russell E. Cool, 84, of Gettysburg, entered into God's Eternal Care on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg.  He was the loving husband of Joan Marie (Yingling) Cool who died January 3, 2007.  Together they shared 53 years of marriage.

He was born December 23, 1934 in Gettysburg, the son of the late John Francis and Grace Irene (Herring) Cool.

Russell was employed as a supervisor with the Gettysburg Shoe Factory for many years until the factory's closing.  He later worked at Westinghouse/Schindler Elevator and the All Star Sports Complex.  Russell was a member of the Gettysburg Eagles Aries #1562 and an avid Baltimore Orioles and NASCAR fan.  He especially enjoyed the weekly card games with his family.

He is survived by his children; Susan Cool, Bonneauville, David R. Cool and wife Debra, Gettysburg, Nicky J. Cool and wife Pamela, York Springs, Scott P. Cool and wife Kay, Biglerville and Chad M. Cool, Gettysburg; brothers, John Cool and wife Elsie , Biglerville and Daniel Cool and companion Betti Beard, Hanover;  sister, Sarah Schacle, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Matthew Cool and wife Joni, Harrisburg, Ryan Cool, Gettysburg, Zachary Cool and companion Michelle, Gettysburg, Nichole Woerner and husband David, Orrtanna, Chelsea McMaster and husband Thomas, York Springs, Tanner Cool, Biglerville and Kyle Cool, Biglerville; and seven great-grandchildren, Camden Cool, Gettysburg, Kayla Woerner, Orrtanna, Madie Woerner, Orrtanna, Alyssa Cool, Gettysburg, Gabriel Cool, Gettysburg, Cooper Cool, Harrisburg and Parker Cool, Harrisburg and his loving and loyal canine companion Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his brothers; Grant Cool, Albert Cool and Samuel F. Cool, Sr. and sisters; Betty Lawrence and Goldie Huff.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11 am at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg with Chaplain Betty Fundalewicz officiating. There will be a viewing on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
