Robert W. Kinney, 50 of Gettysburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29th at Spiritrust Lutheran Gettysburg Village.
Born January 20, 1967 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James E. Kinney Sr. and Joan S. Kinney of Churchville, PA.

In addition to his wife Rebecca A. Kinney, Robert is survived by his brother James E. Kinney Jr., his sister Carolyn DuMont, his brother-in-law Kirk DuMont, nieces Ashley DuMont-Szenduich, Jaqueline DuMont and Lauren DuMont, his father-in-law Jim Bolt, mother-in-law Linda R Bolt, brother-in-law Daniel Bolt, his sister-in-law Janene Bolt and nieces Margaret Bolt and Eleanor Bolt.

Robert was a graduate of the class of 1985 from Council Rock High School, Newtown PA, and graduated from St Joseph's University in the class of 1990 with a Bachelors of Science. Robert was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity, Zeta Alpha chapter. Robert had a lifelong passion for history and was a historical reenactor of many time periods, including WWI, WWII and the American Civil War; he was also in several historical movies including Gettysburg, The Blue Eyed Six and The Love Letter as a historical reenactor and extra. Robert loved surfing and had completed seven parachute jumps, he volunteered with several veterans organizations and his career included time with the National Rifle Association and with Bristol Myers Squibb Co. as a pharmaceutical representative. His favorite activity in recent years was hiking on the Gettysburg Battlefield, often accompanied by the beloved family dog, Ike. He had been studying to become a Licensed Battlefield Guide. Robert will be most remembered by his friends and loved ones for his sense of humor, good natured personality and generosity. His gift for storytelling, his humorous accounts of reenactments past, and his knowledge of history will be missed around many campfires and family gatherings alike.

A memorial celebration for Robert W. Kinney will be held April 8, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St, Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends to share memories of Robert from 1pm until the time of service, with a reception to follow.
