Mr. Grove was born March 25, 1920 in Stewartstown, PA the son of the late Curvin R.T. and Louise (Thompson) Grove.
He served his country during WWII and retired from PennDot where he was a stock clerk and was honored as employee of the month in May 1985. Mr. Grove also owned and operated the Lincoln Highway Motel and drove bus and trolley in the city of York. He was a member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church, the Zeradatha Lodge No. 451 F&AM, York, the Harrisburg Consistory, the Stewartstown VFW Post 7046, the AMVETS Post 172, Fairfield and the CWV Post 1342, Bonneauville.
He is survived by his nieces, Linda Golden and her husband Richard, Red Lion, Deborah Horn and her husband Martin, Gettysburg and Kathy DeVine and her husband Steve, New Oxford, nephews, Robert Gladfelter and his wife Brenda, Red Lion and Ronald Mundis and his wife Sue, Red Lion, brother-in-law Waldo Gladfelter, Red Lion and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Grove and his sisters, Ferne Gladfelter and Myrtle Mundis.
A service to celebrate the life of Robert C. Grove will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10 AM at Gettysburg United Methodist Church, 30 West High Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 7 until 9 PM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with a Masonic Service at 7 PM. A second viewing will be held on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville. Serving as pallbearers will be Martin Horn, Matthew Horn, Dick Golden, Robert Gladfelter, Ronald Mundis and David Group.
