Robert S. "Bud" Plank, 91 of Fayetteville and formerly of Gettysburg, passed peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville. He was the loving husband of the late Mildred B. (Cullison) Plank who died April 21, 1998.
He was born July 30, 1920 in Greenmount, PA the son of the late Ernest D. and Mary (Bishop) Plank.
Mr. Plank served his country in the U.S. Navy with the Sea Bees during WWII. He worked as a carpenter with his uncles building houses in the Gettysburg area and later owned and operated the East End Planing Mill, Gettysburg. A skilled woodworker, he was an accomplished cabinet maker and built a hunting cabin in Montana. He had a great love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed trapping and hunting in Canada.
He is survived by his son, Robert M. Plank and his wife Lois of Gettysburg and three grandchildren, Leslie C. Plank of San Jose, CA, David L. Sondak of Troy, NY and Jean E. Sondak of Fairfax, VA.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 1PM at Fairfield Union Cemetery, Route 116 West, Fairfield, PA with Pastor Kenneth R.W. Reid officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery, Fairfield, PA.
