Obituary

Richard A. Mitchel, 88, of York Springs, loved his Lord and went home to be with him on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Spirit Trust, Gettysburg. He was the loving husband of Lois (Zimmerman) Mitchel who died February 21, 2009.

Born July 24, 1928 in LaGrange, IN, he was the son of the late Emory and Mary (Mercer) Mitchel.

Pastor Mitchel was a WW II Army veteran and graduated from the Philadelphia College of the Bible where he was also a field representative and evangelist. He also served with Grace and Truth Evangelistic Association. He served as Pastor at the Gettysburg Bible Baptist Church from 1975 until 2000 and was a representative of the Fellowship Tract League, Lebanon, OH from 2000 to 2009.

He is survived by his son, Pastor David J. Mitchel and wife Patricia of York Springs; his daughter, Deborah Speck and husband David of Newville, PA; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Gettysburg Bible Baptist Church, 3003 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, with Pastor Richard Black officiating. Friends will be received at the church after 3:30 p.m. Sunday to visit with the family. Burial will be private in Biglerville Cemetery.

The Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
