Raymond “Clyde” Kirby, 78 of McKnightstown passed away peacefully at Gettysburg Hospital on Saturday, July 25th, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Edith E. (McClaine) Kirby.

Born December 17, 1947 in Knoxville, TN, he was a son of the late Alvin D. and Kathern L. (Nipper) Kirby.

Clyde served a long, dedicated career as a dump truck driver. All who knew him could always find a smile on his face and a cheerful personality. He was a wonderful husband and family man and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, yardwork and essentially anything outdoors.

In addition to his loving wife, Clyde is survived by his stepson, Larry “Joey” Haggen; four step-grandchildren: Nathaniel Haggen, Daniel Haggen, Nicholas Haggen and Autumn Haggen; seven siblings: Alvin Kirby, Jr. (Linda), Calvin Kirby(the late Janice), Wayne Kirby (the late Sherry) Gladys Luther (Dave), Kathy Smith (Robert), Debra Bollinger (Roger) and Linda Laughman (companion, Terry), as well as many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings: Alpharetta Smith, Roland Kirby, Blain Kirby, Jerry Kirby, John Kirby, Charles Kirby, Sherman Kirby and David Kirby

A funeral service to celebrate Clyde’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Peters Funeral Home, Inc.; 321 Carlisle St. in Gettysburg. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Thursday at the funeral home from 10am until the start of the service.
