He was born January 11, 1938 in Gettysburg the son of the late Raymond T. and Ethel G. (Sanders) Hardman.
Ralph graduated from Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown and served in the United States Army. He worked for many years at Heiges Masonry, Gettysburg and later he and his wife owned and operated Faber's Restaurant in Gettysburg. After his retirement from Caretti Masonry, he worked as a tipstaff at the Adams County Courthouse. He was an avid Colts fan, a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg, a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1342, Bonneauville, a member of the American Legion Post 202, Gettysburg and a former member of the Gettysburg ELKS Lodge 1045 where he received Elk of the year honors for his service to the lodge.
A hard worker and skilled mason, Ralph was considered by many to be the best stone mason in the area. He was a generous and giving person who would do anything for anyone. His family and friends loved and cherished him and he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Gwen H. Glenny and her husband Jim, East Berlin and Lori M. Faloon and her husband Rich, Bonneauville, grandsons, Andrew Yingling and Zach Glenny, sister, Theresa Myers, East Berlin and brother, Ronald Hardman, Huntsville, TX.
He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Hardman.
Family and friends will meet at 9 AM Tuesday at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg to process to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 43 West High Street, Gettysburg for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM with Father Bernardo Pistone as celebrant. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM at the Peters Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 PM. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Yingling, Zach Glenny, Jim Glenny, Rich Faloon, Brian Myers, Tim Leatherman, Greg Sanders and Bob Sanders.
