Phillip S. Plank, 73, of Gettysburg, entered into God's care Thursday, October 2, 2008 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Married September 16, 1961, he was the husband of Marie G. (Gulotta) Plank.
Born April 24, 1935 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Bishop) Plank.
Mr. Plank served his country in the Navy for twenty years. Upon his retirement, he was employed as a machine operator with Hanover Wire Cloth for twelve years. Mr. Plank later founded and operated Phil-Mar Fencing Company, Gettysburg, with his sons.
Mr. Plank was a member of the American Legion, Gettysburg. He also served as Cubmaster with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Little League Baseball Club in San Diego. A jack of all trades, Mr. Plank was known as "Mr. Fix-It" who was always helping family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons, Marco E. Plank and his wife Lori, Dean R. Plank and his wife Dolores, Larry G. Plank and his wife Holly, all of Gettysburg, and Phillip J. Plank and his wife Tricia of York Springs; two brothers, Robert S. Plank and John D. Plank, both of Gettysburg; four sisters, Ruth Peters of Miami, FL, Grayce Bowers Bair of Littlestown, Eva Mae Hogan of Dallas, GA, and Naomi L. Cheeks of Polk, PA; and seven grandchildren, Shelby Plank, Kaylee Plank, Jasmyn Reeley, Amanda Reeley, Jacob Plank, Bridgit Plank, and Kyle Leinbach.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell D. Plank; and three sisters, Helen Plank, Margaret Brown, and Carrie Plank.
Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg.
