Obituary

Phillip W. Hawkins, 70, of Littlestown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Laurie (Bennett) Hawkins, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

Born on March 15, 1956, in Olney, Maryland, Phil was a son of the late Clarence C. and Kay (Willis) Hawkins.

In addition to his wife, Phil is survived by his son, Ben Hawkins and wife, Ashlee, of Gettysburg; his daughter, Katie Briskie and husband, Ryan, of Camp Hill; his four grandchildren, Ava Hawkins, Eli Hawkins, Elle Briskie, and Anderson Briskie; his brothers, Clarence Chester Hawkins Jr. and David Edwin Hawkins; and many loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lee Hawkins.

Raised in Sykesville, Maryland, Phil attended South Carroll High School as a member of the Class of 1974. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. Following his military service, he attended Howard Community College, where he earned his nursing degree and began a career as a registered nurse. During his college years, Phil met Laurie. They married in 1984 and began their family together.

In addition to being a dedicated husband, father, and Pops to his grandchildren, he spent many seasons coaching baseball for Littlestown Baseball and Softball for Youth. He enjoyed spending time at the Littlestown Fish and Game ranges. After a long career of bedside nursing, Phil retired in 2024 from Carroll Hospital Center. Upon retirement, Phil was able to dedicate time to the greatest joys in his life, his grandchildren.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
