Obituary

Peggy Ann Silk, 62 of Biglerville passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of the late David Silk who died on September 26, 2006. She was the companion of R. James Knouse of Biglerville.

She was born October 3, 1946 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Glenn William and G. Mildred (Miller) Jacoby.

Peggy was a 1964 graduate of Biglerville High School. While living in Chicago, she sold insurance for many years and received numerous awards for top salesperson. Peggy was a wonderful person who brought enjoyment to many elderly people through her variety troupe that performed vaudeville acts in Chicago, Illinois, Deerfield, Florida and at the Brethren Home (a one time performance) in New Oxford. She also taught classes in the Jewish Community Center in Chicago.

In addition to her companion, Peggy is survived by her children, Laura Herrera of Milwaukee, WI; Tracey Paul of Chicago, IL; Vernon W. J. Jacoby and his wife MiRan of Golden, CO and Brenda Lugan of Texarkana, AR, step-children, Mitchell Silk of New York City and Eileen Creigler of Tamarac, FL, brothers and sisters, Jeanne Smith and her husband Herb of McPherson, KS; Mary Jewell and her husband Roger of Fairfield, PA; Sandy Suders and her husband William of Fayetteville, PA; Glenn William Jacoby, Jr. and his wife Kristen of Red Lion, PA; David Jacoby and his wife Nickolina of Gettysburg, PA; Gayle Patterson and her husband Donald of Gettysburg, PA and Randy Jacoby and his wife Terrie of Coweta, OK, sister-in-law, Cynthia (Heisey) Jacoby of Manheim, PA, 22 grandchildren and a great grandson.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Jacoby who died in 1986 and by a step-daughter, Rhonda Silk.

A service to celebrate the life of Peggy will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Pastor Marvin Stanley officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, December 17th from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home. A second viewing will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Benders Lutheran Cemetery, Biglerville. Serving as pallbearers will be, Elijah Patterson; Luke Jacoby; Zach Hill; Josh Paul; R. James Knouse, Jr. and Joe Hill.
