Born September 5, 1937 in York, he was a son of the late John O. and Julia B. (Zirkle) Moyer.
Mr. Moyer was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Gettysburg. He was employed for over 35 years in the housekeeping department of Gettysburg Hospital until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Moyer was a lifetime member of the South Mountain Rangers. In his free time, he loved caring for and riding his horses on his family farm.
Surviving is his brother, Charles P. Moyer and wife Ruby of Thomasville; five nephews; and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, John O. Moyer, Jr.; and two nephews.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Salem United Methodist Church, 224 Low Dutch Road, Gettysburg, with Rev. Leon G. Bird officiating. Viewing will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday at church. A second viewing will begin 10 a.m. Saturday at church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Moyer, Allen Moyer, Mark Moyer, Charles Moyer, Jr., Jeffery Moyer, and Aaron Cory Moyer.
For those desiring, contributions may be made in Mr. Moyer's memory to Salem United Methodist Church, 224 Low Dutch Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325, or VNA of Hanover, Spring Grove, and Adams County, 440 North Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
