Obituary

Nita Mae Cullison, 72, of Fairfield and formerly of Gettysburg passed peacefully on Sunday March 30, 2008 at the Gettysburg Hospital.

She was born January 30, 1936 in Bland, Virginia the daughter of the late David T. and Annie Mae (Baxley) Davis.

Mrs. Cullison was a devoted mother who lovingly cared for her son James, who became seriously ill at the age of twelve, and took care of him around the clock until his death on July 2, 1990. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; William Cullison of Bendersville, Annetta Piper of Fairfield, Sue Brookens of Biglerville, Laura McWilliams of Hanover and David Cullison of South Carolina, a brother; William Davis of New Oxford, six sisters; Kate Cullison of Fairfield, Peggy Welty of South Carolina, Shirley Gladfelter of Gettysburg, Sue Mitchell of South Carolina, Sally Dajero of Jacksonville, FL and Jo Lynn Stottlemyer of McSherrystown, 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four children; Laura Mae Cullison, Keith Allen Cullison, Thomas Harvey Cullison and James Clinton Cullison and a brother; David T. Davis, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2008 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Mrs. Cullison's nephew Dale Welty offering the eulogy. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Welty, Shawn Piper, Brian Piper, Dale Piper, Michael McWilliams and Ricky Shultz.
