Nancy L. Southerly, 85, of Biglerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at York Hospital.

Born on June 20, 1940, in Arendtsville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Mable (Timbrook) Southerly. Born at home in Arendtsville and raised in nearby Bendersville, Nancy graduated from Biglerville High School with the Class of 1958.

Nancy's life was marked by her dedication to caring for others. After she graduated high school, she worked for the state of Pennsylvania as an administrative assistant for about 10 years before attending Empire Beauty School, she then pursued her true calling in nursing and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification on February 1, 1973. She went on to serve as an LPN for many years at Gettysburg Hospital, formerly Annie M. Warner Hospital, where she compassionately cared for countless patients.

Nancy enjoyed life's simple pleasures and cherished time spent with those she loved. She enjoyed taking bus trips, watching sports, especially cheering for her favorite player, Tom Brady,and spending time playing games on her phone. She was a fan of game shows and always looked forward to enjoying good food, particularly the lobster her family lovingly brought back from their trips to Maine. Purple was her favorite color, and above all, she treasured spending time with her family.

Nancy is survived by her nieces and nephews: Linda C. Wilkinson and her husband, Bill II, of Biglerville; Debora K. Poland and her husband, Steven, of Mooresville, North Carolina; Michael A. Southerly-Barria and his wife, Inelda J. Southerly-Barria, of Indiana; Jeffrey M. Southerly of Gettysburg; Karen S. Cyphert of Lakeland, Florida; Patsy A. Cover and her husband, Richard, of Bendersville; Donald E. Orner of Bendersville; Janet M. Krall and her husband, John, of York; and Phyllis J. Knouse and her husband, Brian, of Arendtsville. She is also survived by many loving great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Jack R. Southerly, and her sister, Frances L. Orner.

A service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, PA, with Pastor Loren Decker officiating. Family and friends are invited to share memories and pay their respects during a viewing on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey M. Southerly, Andrew "Andy" Wilkinson, Bill Wilkinson II, Richard Cover, John Krall, and Michael A. Southerly-Barria..
