Obituary

Myrtis L. Coffman, 89, of Gettysburg passed peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Transitions. She was the wife of the late Charles B. Coffman who died January 18, 2008. Together they shared 61 years of marriage.

She was born March 27, 1926 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Amelia (Foster) Johnson.

Mrs. Coffman was a member of Gettysburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She and her husband established Coffman Jewelers in 1948 at their original location on Chambersburg Street. They later moved to Baltimore Street and provided service to the residents of Gettysburg for 60 years. Mrs. Coffman was a collector of antiques and beautiful things and had a love for people.

She is survived by her son, Craig Coffman, Gettysburg and daughter, Gale Bachich and husband John, Glenmore and two grandchildren, Alexandra Bachich, Washington, D.C. and Peter Bachich, Glenmore.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Calvin and Russell Johnson.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Chaplain Keith A. Searfoss of Grane Hospice officiating. The family will receive friends and share memories on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
