Obituary

Minnie I. (Weaver) Turner, 88 of New Oxford passed away quietly on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Brethren Home Community. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence W. Turner who died January 13, 1980.

She was born January 12, 1922 in Mummasburg the daughter of the late John and Lillie (Kline) Weaver.

Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and a member of the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren. A very active member of her church, she taught Sunday school, was a Deacon, served on the church board and was a member of the Women's Fellowship. She also worked at Green Acres, Gettysburg for a number of years and had been employed in the cafeteria at Biglerville High School. She loved animals, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Roger L. Turner and his wife Mary Kay of Gettysburg; daughter, Elaine L. Coleman and her husband Larry of Gardners; son-in-law, David Orndorff of Casper, WY; four grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughters, Nancy Jean Turner and Ann M. Orndorff; brothers, Frank, Harry, Charles and George Weaver and her sisters Laura Simpson and Katherine Weaver.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Turner's life will be on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 11 AM at the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg with Pastor Karl Stone and Pastor Patricia Arendt officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Burial will be in Upper Marsh Creek Cemetery, Gettysburg.
