Merton E. Grace, 83 of Gettysburg passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Wilda G. (Forsythe) Grace of Gettysburg to whom he was married to for 58 years.
He was born June 7, 1928 in Lackawanna, NY the son of the late Irvin William and Lorene Vesta (Hall) Grace.
Mr. Grace honorably served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corp. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church, Gettysburg and was an avid hunter. Mr. Grace was a carpenter, electrician and farmer who enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Merton E. Grace, II and his wife Patricia of Gettysburg; Thane Grace and his wife Laurie of Orrtanna; Blaine Grace and his wife Barbara of Gettysburg; sister, Patricia Rice of Pennsylvania; brother, Fred Grace of York, grandchildren, Heather; Meghan; Patrick; Danielle; Katelyn; Kelsey; Cheyanne; Faythe; Tyler and great grandsons, Hayden and Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his sons Kerry Brian Grace and Patrick Wayne Grace.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Grace will be on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Pastor Bob Gray officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
