Maxine Elizabeth (Harman) Kauffman, 53 of Biglerville entered into God's eternal care on Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of Wayne R. Kauffman, Biglerville with whom she would have celebrated 31 years of marriage on July 7th.

She was born October 20, 1957 in Gettysburg the daughter of Roy and Patricia (Deardorff) Harman, York Springs.

Maxine graduated from Bermudian Springs High School in 1976 and attended Trinity United Church of Christ, Biglerville. She was a homemaker and was employed with Taylor's Greenhouse and Smith's Restaurant both in Biglerville. Maxine enjoyed shopping, antiques, gardening and flowers.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Joshua Kauffman and his wife Stevie, Gettysburg; a daughter, Jessica Kauffman, Petersburg, VA; sisters, Penny O'Brien and her husband George, Abbottstown; Lisa Becker and her husband Douglas, Denver, PA; two nieces and two nephews.

A service to celebrate Maxine's life will be on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Dr. Karen Minnich-Sadler officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. A second viewing will be held on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Biglerville Cemetery, Biglerville.
