Mary Alice Walker, 91, of New Oxford, died Thursday November 15, 2007 at Hanover Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Deatrick, who died in 1973, and by her second husband, Stewart Walker, who died in 1979.

She was born July 4, 1916, in Biglerville, PA, the daughter of the late David C. and Lottie (Wagner) March.

Mrs. Walker was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, New Chester, and in 1945 was a Charter Member of the Eastern Star, New Oxford. She owned and operated the Cross Keys Diner, New Oxford for 15 years until selling the business in 1970.

She is survived by her son, John H. Deatrick, Jr. and his wife Michele, of New Oxford; two brothers, Clair March, of Lancaster and Fred March, of New Oxford; four sisters, Luella Peterson, of Mt. Holly Springs, Sara Orner, of Bendersville, Virginia McCleaf, of Gettysburg, and Jean Gitt, of New Oxford; four grandchildren, Dwaine Deatrick, Daniel Deatrick, Darrell Deatrick, and Detra Deatrick; a great-grandson, Dalton Deatrick; a step-granddaughter, Heather Ernst; and a step-great granddaughter, Megan Sewak.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie March, Dale March, Donald March, and Revere March; and three sisters; Lena March, Verna Walker, and Reba Bitner.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Doug Hahn officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville, PA.
