Mary (Wilson) Sprague, 72, of Gettysburg, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Gettysburg. She was the loving wife of Roger L. Sprague, her husband of 54 years.
Born March 2, 1938 in Letchworth, England, she was the daughter the late William and Alice (Lovette) Wilson.
Mrs. Sprague met her husband while he was serving in the US Air Force and stationed at Chicksands RAF base. After their marriage, the couple ultimately settled in the United States. For many years, they owned and operated Apple Way Farm, the family dairy farm. Later, the couple owned Century 21 Neighborhood Realty in Gettysburg.
Mary found much joy in raising and caring for her family. An avid crafter and quilter, she was member of the Adams County Homemakers Club. Mary also actively participated for years in the Adams County Extension Agency and reached many in the community through speaking on how to live well with Rheumatoid Arthritis. In recent years, Mrs. Sprague loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Karen Smyth and her husband William of Dale City, VA, and Debbie Moreton of Frisco, TX; two grandchildren, Jason Smyth and Samantha Smyth, both of Blacksburg, VA; and one sister; Jan Drake of Letchworth, England.
She was predeceased by a son, Guy Roger Sprague; and a sister, Devina Langham.
