Born December 15, 1936 in Bonneauville, she was a daughter of the late Richard E. and Rita (Martin) Smith.
Mrs. Riley was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. She founded Riley's Used Auto Parts in Gettysburg with her husband in 1960, and she continued to manage the office until recently. Previously, she was employed with the Gettysburg Shoe Factory, the Sylvania Shoe Factory in Hanover, and the Bonneauville Sewing Factory.
Mrs. Riley was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary in Bonneauville. In her free time, she loved yard sales, auctions, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her son, Nevin "Rick" Riley, Jr. and his wife Judy of Gettysburg; her daughter, Tina Denike and her husband Roy of New Oxford; three brothers, Leo Smith and his wife Marie of Lugoff, SC, Bernard F. Smith and his wife Vicki of Gettysburg, and Paul "Bill" Smith and his wife Diane of Gettysburg; her sister, Margaret Storm and her husband Tom of Gettysburg; four grandchildren, Tony L. Riley, Bobby Riley, Samantha Riley, and Roy A. Denike; and three great-grandchildren, Summer Riley, Janelle Riley, and Tyler Denike.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Riley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 2 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 22 W. High St., Gettysburg, with Father Bernardo Pistone as celebrant. A viewing will be held between 6 and 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St, Gettysburg, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A second viewing will begin 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home before processing to the church. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nevin R. Riley, Jr., Roy H. Denike, Roy A. Denike, Bobby G. Riley, Tony L. Riley, and Eugene Buhr.
