Mary R. Bowling, 89, of Gettysburg, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Genesis Health Care, Gettysburg Center. She was the wife of Dale F. Bowling who died December 20, 2000.
She was born October 10, 1927 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Norman V. and Marie E. (Martin) Yingling.
Mary was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg and retired from the Naval Depot, Mechanicsburg where she received numerous awards and recognition. After retiring, she worked for several years at the Gettysburg News Agency.
She is survived by her brothers, Norman E. Yingling and wife Johneta, Gettysburg and James F. Yingling and wife Rose, Gettysburg; brother-in-law, Russell E. Cool, Gettysburg and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Cool and Lillian Black.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 5th at 10 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Daniel Mitzel, celebrant. The family will receive friends and share memories on Monday at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg from 9 AM until 9:45 AM at which time they will process to church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Becker, Chris Becker, Todd Yingling, Dave Cool, Matt Cool and Scott Cool.
