Mary A. (Scott) Sowards, 60, of Gettysburg, passed peacefully Monday, January 14, 2008 at Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of Floyd E. Sowards, of Gettysburg.

Born October 28, 1949, in Montgomery Twp., PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Catherman) Scott.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her son, Larry E. Sowards of Gettysburg; her daughter, Rhonda A. Meyer of Gettysburg; three sisters, Betty Scott of Gettysburg, Rose Fisher of Cherry Tree, PA, and Dorothy Lowman of Cherry Tree; two brothers, Sam Scott of Cherry Tree, and Bill Scott of West Virginia; and two granddaughters, Brianna Meyer and Madison Meyer.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Scott and Raymond Scott; one sister, Elizabeth Scott; and her infant brother and infant sister.

Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Peters Funeral Home, Inc., 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg.
