Marian R. Shindledecker, 89 of Gettysburg passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Transitions Health Care, Gettysburg. She was the wife of Robert A. Shindledecker, Cashtown.

She was born August 22, 1922 in Mercersburg the daughter of the late Percy A. and Helen A. (Suders) Hays.

Mrs. Shindledecker was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Orrtanna and retired as the cafeteria manager at Franklin Township Elementary School. She was a former member of the Cashtown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed baking, cooking and crocheting.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Dorothy "Dottie" Harris and her husband Ron, New Oxford, granddaughter, Lisa R. Hewitt, Cashtown; grandson, Ron L. Shultz, Jr., Cashtown; four great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Agnes Creager and her husband Clarence, Chambersburg; Virginia Deshong, Mercersburg; John Hays and his wife Dorothy, Orlando, FL; Ruth Williams and her husband Bill, Mercersburg; Percy "Bill" Hays and his wife Anna Mae, Fort Loudon; Rev. James E. Hays and his wife Elsie, Palmyra; Gloria Hawk and her husband Barrie, Chambersburg; many step grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Shindledecker will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Pastor Kim Phillips officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Shultz; Alex Hewitt; Anthony Hewitt; Justin Shultz; Kyle Baker and Staci Shultz.
