Margaret M. Smith, 81, Orrtanna, entered God's eternal care Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Manor Care, Chambersburg surrounded by her loving family.  Margaret was the loving wife of Charles Melvin Smith who died July 2, 2013.

She was born February 5, 1937 in Detour, Maryland the daughter of the late William Robert and Lottie Mae (Keeney) Spielman.

Margaret retired from the Quality Inn, Gettysburg and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She especially enjoyed cookouts and going out to dinner with her family.

Margaret is survived by her children; Melvin W. Smith and wife Molly, Aspers, son Robert D. Smith, Sr. and wife Kathy, New Oxford, daughter, Diana L. Coons and husband Ronald, Orrtanna and daughter, Tammy M. Verdier and husband Thomas, Orrtanna; six brothers and sisters, Bill Spielman and wife Reba, Taneytown, MD, Nancy Humm, Frederick, MD, Fred Spielman, Thurmont, MD, Charles Spielman, Taneytown, MD, Carroll Spielman and wife Debbie, Woodsboro, MD and Norman Spielman and wife Theresa, Taneytown, MD; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles E. Spielman, daughter, Juanita Lee Smith, brother, Steve Spielman and sister, Doris Favorite.

A service to celebrate the life of Margaret will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Ron Parr officiating.   A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6 to 8pm and then again on Friday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.  Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Michael Spielman, Kevin Spielman, Bob Smith, Jr., Greg Smith, Jeremy Smith, Justin Verdier, Chris Kirby and Josh Smith.
