Linda Carolyn
Marie Orndorff Beasley
Nov 23, 1947 — Apr 13, 2014
Linda Carolyn Marie Orndorff Beasley 66, of Gettysburg, PA died on April 13, 2014 peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Born on November 23, 1947 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Thomas) Orndorff.
She grew up in Gettysburg PA and attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church School and then Gettysburg High School. She was the second oldest of five children and was a loyal, devoted and loving mother, sister, daughter and friend. Her girls became her life. She worked hard to provide for her daughters often working two jobs. She taught her girls by example how to treat others and to be kind, caring and patient. Linda was the type of person who had an everlasting positive influence on the lives she touched. She loved to help others often giving of herself, her time and her talents. One of her greatest pleasures was watching the satisfaction on people's faces as they ate and enjoyed the meals and good home cooking she prepared. She was known for her macaroni salad, lasagna (many Christmas Eve meals) peach and zucchini bread, apple crisp, gingerbread and sugar cookies. She loved listening to music, collecting CD's, going to the beach and spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing games and doing crafts with her nieces, watching TV with her youngest brother and the girls and visiting her oldest brother in Bethesda MD. One of the highlights of her life was the trip she took with her brothers to Paris France and London. She loved going to dinner and movies with her sister and friends. And she valued and treasured the time she could spend with her girls. Linda loved animals and children and it seems both were drawn toward her.
Linda worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Green Acres for over 40 years and other part-time jobs as needed. She was dedicated and committed to her profession and made strong connections with the residents, she could tell stories for hours.
She lives on in the lives she touched with her gentle, caring ways, with the words she spoke and in the hearts she warmed and in the joy she brought each day.
Linda has been a member of the Gettysburg Seventh-day Adventist Church all of her life. She enjoyed going to church on many Saturday's with her sister and great niece.
Linda is survived by her daughters Laura Beasley and wife Karen Moyer, Holly Greenawalt and husband Jamie Greenawalt,, her brothers Joseph Orndorff and husband Joseph Bekisz, William Orndorff and wife Denise Orndorff, her sister Sharon Bowie and husband Adriel Bowie, a nephew and nieces Esmeralda and Hannah Orndorff.
