Obituary

Juanita H. Boucher, 89 of Portsmouth, VA formerly of Sioux City, IA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022 at her home. She was the loving wife of Kenneth K. Boucher (deceased); together they shared 66 years of marriage.

Born May 24, 1932 in Sioux City, IA she was the daughter of the late Sam and Louise Hayslip.

Juanita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she was a telephone switchboard operator 30 years in Milford, MA and Cinnaminson, NJ. In her free time Juanita enjoyed playing cards, reading and having coffee with friends and family.

Juanita is survived by five children, a daughter, Jody Major of Portsmouth, VA, four sons, Michael K. Boucher and his wife Janet of Leavenworth, KS, Patrick J. Boucher and his wife Ellen of Nuremberg, Germany, Kevin J. Boucher and his wife Pam of Mountain Home, AR, Gary L. Boucher and his wife Jeannette of Suffolk, VA; sisters Audrey, Lucile, Arlene (deceased), brother Sam, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. To all, she was known as a woman of laughter and love.

A service to celebrate the life of Juanita was held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Kevin Orewiler officiating. Juanita is now buried next to her husband in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
