John J. Stofcik, 81 of Gettysburg passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Gettysburg Hospital. He was the loving husband of Betty M. (Cool) Stofcik with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage on June 28th.
He was born July 7, 1931 in New Castle, PA the son of the late John C. and Mary (Staranski) Stofcik.
John served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at the Gettysburg Elks as a bartender for 10 years and was also employed at Granite Hill Campground for five years. He was a member of the Gettysburg Moose #1526 and the Gettysburg Eagles #1562.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his step-children, Debbie Albright and her husband Dr. William of Hershey, Steve Lawrence and his wife Kathy of Thurmont and Michael Lawrence and his wife Karen of Aspers, sister, Mary Whiteman of New Castle, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held in New Castle, PA at a later date.
The Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, PA is assisting the family with arrangements.
