Joan K. Estelow, 80, of Gettysburg passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville. She was the loving wife of Walter W. Estelow, Gettysburg. Together they shared 13 years of marriage.

She was born November 11, 1935 in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Harry and Freda (Heinz) Gargel.

Joan was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Kathleen O'Neill, Sicklerville, NJ, Carole Shimkus, Chalfont, PA, Joan Kramer, Warminster, PA and Diane King, Clayton, NJ; 9 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Rowan; daughter, Linda Castellano and brothers, Harry and Richard Gargel.

A service to celebrate the life of Joan K. Estelow will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 11:30 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 10 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
