Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Jayne Ellen Settle, 82, of Patrick Space Force Base, Florida announce her passing on November 9, 2024 at Melbourne Regional Hospital under the care of St. Francis Reflections Hospice.  Jayne bravely battled cancer for two and a half years before our Lord brought her home.

Jayne was born February 17, 1942 in Crucible, PA, the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Dorricott.  She worked most of her life as a nurse in many capacities and retired from the federal government.  She was a member of the Patrick SFB Protestant Chapel and of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 262 in Biglerville, PA.  Jayne enjoyed music, dancing, golfing and most of all, growing her summer flowers.  Her love of books was something she enjoyed sharing with her daughter and her granddaughter.  She was a voracious reader and could often finish 13 books in a month.  Jayne also enjoyed cruises and annual vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC.  She loved Christmas and her cats.  Finally, if you knew Jayne, you knew she had a great sense of fashion and always looked amazing wherever she went.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Paul Settle of Patrick Space Force Base, Florida; daughters Kelly (Adrian) Sanchez, Mickey (Tim) Brietenback, Brooke (Alan) Cummings; Grandchildren Alexander (Breanne), Andrew, Timothy, Emilly, Macey and Lilly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Tilton.

A funeral service to celebrate Jayne's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 7th at Lighthouse Baptist Church; 80 Apple Drive in Gettysburg with Pastor Robert Gray officiating.  A private family burial ceremony will follow.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Saturday at the church from 11am until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, considering Jayne's love of animals, contributions may be made to Adams County S.P.C.A.; 11 Goldenville Rd.; Gettysburg, PA 17325 or online by visiting www.adamscountyspca.org.

Services have been entrusted to the care of Peters Funeral Home in Gettysburg.
