Obituary

Jay D. Wolf, 89, of Gettysburg, passed away surrounded by his loving family Monday, April 18, 2011 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of Carrie C. (Cramer) Wolf, his wife of 62 years.

Born March 2, 1922 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Roy C. and Leila (Cluck) Wolf.

A lifelong farmer, Mr. Wolf lived and breathed his family farm in Gettysburg. He was a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau and was also employed at Eastern States. Mr. Wolf was also a member of the Odd Fellows, Gettysburg. Family and friends will always remember his "sweet tooth."

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Donald Wolf and his wife Martha, Marie Rentzel and her husband Ellis, and Philip Wolf and his wife Barbara, all of Gettysburg; two brothers, Stanley Wolf and his wife LaVaughne, and Rodney Wolf and his wife Betty, all of Gettysburg; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Claire Wolf; and a sister, Mildred Benner.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Craig E. Arentz officiating. A viewing will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A second viewing will begin 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Flohr's Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Cramer, Cullen Cramer, Jason Rentzel, Chad Rentzel, Kevin Saylor, and Brandon Smyers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kate Saylor, Amanda Plank, and Jackie Wolf.
