Hugh D. Bringman, 91, formerly of Gettysburg, died Nov. 19, 2012 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, York. He was the husband, for 55 years, of Dorothy V. (Crouse) Bringman, who died May 13, 2002.
Hugh was born March 8, 1921 in Biglerville, one of seven children of the late Jay and Edna C. (Deatrick) Bringman.
Mr. Bringman was a graduate of Biglerville High School, class of 1938. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg; the Biglerville American Legion; the AARP and the Illuminating Engineers Society, New York. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Tech Sgt. After his service in the Army, Hugh attended Atreus Warner Vocational School, York and Dickinson College prior to being employed as the Chief of Facility Services for the PA Turnpike, Toll Plaza Division. After several years, Mr. Bringman attended Rutgers University Engineering School and received his waste water treatment license from the New Jersey Department of EPA. He was in charge of manufacturing, servicing and maintenance for sewage treatment plants at various municipalities from 1953 to 2002 He then moved back to Gettysburg, where he worked part time for Weis Markets and Schaad Detective Agency.
Mr. Bringman is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a memorial service, celebrating the life of Mr. Bringman will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg with the Rev. Jeanette D. Leisk officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, where full military honors will be provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
