Obituary

Herb L. Fetter, 81 of Aspers, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at home surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Linda D. (Runk ) Fetter.

Born August 7, 1934 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Herbert L and Olive P. (Baker) Fetter.

Herb was a member of the Mummasburg Sportsman's Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was very dynamic and outgoing, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Herb's family and friends remember him as deeply patriotic and proud to have served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had a strict and unwavering moral code and dedication to his family and his country. He was also extremely hard-working. He was employed by Dolly Madison Furniture in Gettysburg, and later at Penn Wood in East Berlin. Most of all, Herb loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved humor, and enjoyed watching old westerns on T.V.

In addition to his wife Linda, Herb is survived by his son, Chad Fetter and his wife Janell of New Oxford; his 2 grandchildren, Brett and Tyler Fetter; his siblings, Larry Fetter and his wife Shirley of Biglerville, Louise Miller of Hanover and Cheryl Hanna of Hanover; also survivied by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey Fetter and his brother Richard Fetter.

A service to celebrate Herb's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Brian Markle officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday, January 15 from 6-8 pm, and again on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg with military honors rendered by the Adams County Allied Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving will be Jason Fetter, Danny Fetter, Mike Shellehamer, Chris Runk, Robert Runk and Greg Naylor.
