Helen R. Spence, 91 of Gettysburg went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Gettysburg Center. She was the loving wife of the late Melvin Spence who died March 24, 1964.
She was born September 8, 1919 in Cashtown the daughter of the late James and Florence (Kump) Shultz.
Mrs. Spence attended Bingaman's School and Franklin Township School. She worked at the Orrtanna Canning Factory and for many years at the Dutch Cupboard Restaurant, Gettysburg.
She is survived by a son, James Spence, St. Peters, MO; a daughter, Connie Wansel, Gettysburg; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Donna; son Dennis and siblings, Claire Shultz; Cleason Shultz; Carl Shultz; Allen Shultz; Blanche Schultz; Mae Schultz; Alma Weaver; Melva Smith; Thelma Shultz; Mildred Shultz and Mary Kime.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 25 at Flohr's Church Cemetery, McKnightstown with Pastor Ed Brower officiating.
