Obituary

Harold D. "Jack" Millhimes, 83 of Gettysburg passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the Gardens at Gettysburg.

Born March 29, 1941 in New Chester, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (Seylar) Millhimes.

Mr. Millhimes was a member of the 1959 Class of Biglerville High School. He was a truck driver and farmer for Weikert's Livestock Corporation in Fairfield, PA, hauling, buying and selling cattle and horses.  He also did farming work for Bud Spalding in Littlestown, PA.  He traveled to West Virginia, New York, Maryland, Wisconsin and even Canada to purchase livestock at cattle auctions.  In his free time, he greatly enjoyed NASCAR and traveled to the Indy 500, Daytona 500, Atlantic and Dover, Delaware for races.

Jack is survived by his niece, Stephanie Wagner and her husband Jim; two sisters, Janet Boyd and Helen Sneeringer, both of Gettysburg; dear friends Gary and Stephanie Lehr, as well as all his cherished friends at the Cecilian Village along with many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings: Mary Water, Josephine Tawney, Betty Steinour, James Millhimes, Russel Millhimes and Ray Millhimes.

A graveside service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 11am on Friday, September 13th at Mt. Olivet Cemetery; 725 Baltimore St. in Hanover with his niece, Stephanie Wagner officiating.  Guests are encouraged to arrive at the Cemetery by 10:45am.
