Obituary

Glenna G. Boyer, 96, of Gettysburg died Sunday December 2, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her four children. She was married in April 1935 to Guy Richard Boyer who passed away July 1, 1983.

She was born October 27, 1911 in Hagerstown, MD the daughter of the late Charles and Eva Catherine (Eyler) Sharer.

Mrs. Boyer was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. In her early years, she worked at Penn Dairies and in various sewing factories in Gettysburg.

She is survived by her four children; Carole Ann Smith, Anna B. Kessel, Edith M. "Peggy" Green and husband Samuel and Kenneth R. Boyer and wife Judy all of Gettysburg, seven grandchildren; Donna L. Scott and husband David, Biglerville, Robert Kenworthy, Frederick, MD, Brian Kessel and wife Tina, East Berlin, Dorothy Rehmeyer and husband Travis, Cashtown, Travis E. Green and wife Samantha, Gettysburg, Lee Boyer, Gettysburg and Jason Boyer, Gettysburg, three great grandchildren; Jessica L. Metz and her husband Jeremy, Mechanicsburg, Rebecca J. Scott, Mechanicsburg and Zachary R. Green, Gettysburg, one great-great grandson; Brayden S. Metz, Mechanicsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters; Charles Sharer, Ralph Sharer, Harry Sharer, Anna Bentzel, Helen Nortavage and Julia Sharer.

The funeral will be Wednesday December 5, 2007 at 11 AM at St. James Lutheran Church 109 York Street Gettysburg with Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Boyer's grandchildren; Robert Kenworthy, Brian Kessel, Lee Boyer, Jason Boyer, Travis Green and Jeremy Metz.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Glenna's memory be made to St. James Lutheran Church 109 York Street Gettysburg, PA 17325 or to Hospice of the Good Shepherd 1075 Old Harrisburg Road Gettysburg, PA 17325.

The Peters Funeral Home 321 Carlisle St. Gettysburg is assisting the family with the arrangements.
