Genevieve J. (Stokum) Klingensmith, 93 of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the village of Laurel Run; where she has been wonderfully taken care of for the past four years. She was the loving wife of the late Alvin Nathaniel Klingensmith who passed away on August 5, 1974; together they shared 28 precious years of marriage.
Born Tuesday, February 26, 1924 in Grindstone, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Hazel (Mathias) Stokum.
Genny grew up in Jeannette, PA, the oldest of 10 children; she married Alvin on May 17, 1946, and moved to Adams County in 1960; she worked for many years at Musselman's, in Biglerville, PA and loved to play Bingo.
Genevieve is survived by six children, Lois Jeffcoat of Hanover, James Klingensmith and his wife Joetta of Abbottstown, Linda McDannell of Hanover, Dennis Klingensmith and his wife Polina of Hanover, Gary Klingensmith and his wife Lana of Orrtanna, Patty Breslin and her husband James of Hanover; 21 grandchildren, Terry Jeffcoat and his wife Laura, Barry Jeffcoat, Timothy Jeffcoat and his wife Jennifer, Tammy Kauffman and her husband Bob, James Bixler and his wife Carrie, Donald Klingensmith, Lori Auckers, Dixie Kint and her husband Brian, Bryan Klingensmith and his wife Paula, Brice Klingensmith, Candie Klingensmith, Edward Allison and his wife Donna, Steven Allison and his wife Sunshine, Wayne Allison and his wife Tina, Alessa Whary and her husband Kyle, Katarina Klingensmith, Jeramiah Klingensmith, Benjamin Klingensmith, Keith Pope, Isaac Pope and his wife Brittany, and Rebecka Galeano and her husband Cristian; 52 great grandchildren; 27 great great grandchildren; three great great great grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Saint; three brothers; Thomas Stokum and his wife Roxanne, John Stokum and his wife Janet, Paul Stokum and his wife Judy.
In addition to her parents and husband Genevieve, was preceded in death by a son, Robert Klingensmith; two sons-in-law, Clyde "Butch" Jeffcoat, Sr., Steve McDannell; three grandchildren, Clyde Jeffcoat, Jr., Jodie Jeffcoat, Tina Cervantes; four sisters, Delores Couchenour, Betty DiNardo, Ilene Anderson, Lois Stokum, and one brother, C.J. Stokum, Jr.
A service to celebrate the life of Genevieve J. (Stokum) Klingensmith will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Fred Chapin officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and then again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg PA 17110.
