Obituary

Elizabeth E. (Hobart) Skinner, 82, of Gettysburg and formerly of Burbank, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Green Acres Nursing Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Meyer and the late Harold L. Skinner.

Born August 6, 1927 in Shelbyville, IN, she was a daughter of the late Francis P. and Gladys V. (Burns) Hobart.

Mrs. Skinner was a lifelong member of Presbyterian churches having most recently attended Great Conewago Presbyterian Church. She was employed as a furniture finisher in Illinois before moving to Gettysburg in 2003 in order to be closer to her family. In her free time, Mrs. Skinner enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and decorating cakes for her family.

Surviving is her son, Francis F. Meyer and his wife Kristine of Gettysburg; her daughter, Pam Harman and her husband Charles of Gettysburg; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Meyer; her brother, Norman Hobart; and her sister, Edna May Fletcher.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. A viewing will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A second viewing will begin 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Great Conewago Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Francis Meyer, Jeffrey Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Pete Harman, Larry Harman, and Frank Moreno.
