Born August 18, 1923 in Huntingdon, PA he was a son of the late Elby M., Sr. and Theresa (Moyer) Boring.

Elby was employed as a maintenance supervisor with Hoffman Home for Children, Littlestown, then with the Gettysburg Lutheran Home and later with the Gettysburg Public School District for 15 years retiring in 1989.

He was a member and Past Govenor of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1526 and a member of the Legion of the Moose. He was also a member of the Gettysburg Elks Lodge #1045 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler.

Elby is survived by four children; George Boring and his wife Catherine, Gettysburg, Ronald Boring and his wife Deb, Gettysburg, Susan Finkboner and her husband Robert, Richboro and Alan Boring and his husband Mark, Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; and a sister Sarah Kagarise, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a son Donald Boring and five siblings, Dorothy Jones, Jane Hughes, John Boring, Joan Boring and David Boring.

A service to celebrate the life of Elby Boring will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8:00pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens., Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Boring, Jordan Boring, Nate Boring, Eric Wall, Ryan Lindblom and Brandon Crouse.
