Edwin Thomas "Tom" Stahl, Jr., 87 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare Gettysburg Center. He was the loving husband of the late Madeline Dawn (Nalls) Stahl who passed away February 1, 2015; together they shared 63 years of marriage.

Born January 25, 1930 in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Edwin T. Sr. and Frances J. (Schrider) Stahl.

Tom was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather; he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. Tom was born and raised in Washington DC and proudly served his country in the Navy from 1948 to 1951 and then again in the Airforce from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War; after the military, Tom worked for the Prince George's County Police Department until moving to Carroll Valley in 1969 and worked for the Charnita Police; Tom also served as the Warden for the Adams County Prison from 1979 to 1982. Tom moved to Murrells Inlet in 1984 and worked security for Costal Carolina and moved back to Gettysburg in 2000.


Tom is survived by his children, three sons, Ron Stahl and his wife Kim of Gettysburg, Denny Stahl and his wife Kathy of Gettysburg, Michael L. Stahl and his wife Sharon of Fairfield; one Daughter, Shari Smith of Pawleys Island, SC; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A service to celebrate the life of Tom will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Steve Baker officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Indiantown National Cemetery, Annville at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017.
