E. Luella Sterner, 98 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home, Gettysburg. Luella was the loving companion of Everett Shover for over 50 years.
Born Sunday, May 12, 1918 in Straban Township, she was a daughter of the late Leslie Guy and Ethel Pauline (Hartlaub) Sterner.
In addition to her companion, Luella is survived by two sister-in-laws, Betty and Dolly Sterner; eight nieces and nephews, Myra Kordish of Parkton, MD, Nicholas Sterner, Scott Sterner and his wife Sue of Lancaster, Kim Breighner and her husband Jack of Aspers, Kevin Sterner and his wife Gail of Horseheads, NY, David Sterner and his wife Gail of Curwensville, Douglas Sterner of York, Bettina Strausbaugh and her significant other Earl Reed of Lewisberry, and numerous loving great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Luella was preceded in death by three brothers, Kermit Sterner and his wife Joan, Robert Sterner and Donald Sterner.
A service to celebrate the life of Luella will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at SpiriTurst Lutheran Home, 1075 Old Harrisburg Rd., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Susan McCarthy officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Luella's memory to Benders Lutheran Church, 1385 Rentzel Rd. Biglerville, PA 17307.
