Obituary

Dorothy "Dubbie" Irene Herring, 83, of Gettysburg died Monday October 15, 2007 at the home of her daughter. She was the loving wife of 63 years to Eugene "Tom" Wilmer Herring who died July 24, 2007.

Born April 11, 1924 in Biglerville, PA she was the daughter of the late Merle and Elsie (Bolen) Huff.

Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her flowers. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Two Taverns and graduated from Gettysburg High School with the Class of 1943. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dorothy loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by five children; Gary Herring and his wife Peggy, Brenda Herring, Diane Stottlemyer and Sharon Patterson and her husband Jeffrey all of Gettysburg and Nancy Husser and her husband David of Husser, LA; a half-sister Betty Yingling, Gettysburg, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Dennis Herring who died November 19, 2003.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Herring, Eric Herring, Jeffrey Patterson, David Husser, Stephanie Hibbs and Rebecca Herring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd 1075 Old Harrisburg Rd. Gettysburg, PA 17325.

Peters Funeral Home, Inc. 321 Carlisle Street Gettysburg is assisting the family with the arrangements.
