Born August 8, 1937 in McSherrystown, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Bernice L. (Ruth) Adams.
Dot was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg. She was a partner of her family's farm, the George Adams Dairy Farm, and was employed there her entire life.
Dot graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1955. In her free time, she enjoyed following the Baltimore Orioles. Her family and friends will remember her as a loving, kind person who was always laughing.
Surviving are three brothers, Richard W. Adams and wife Patsy, Kenneth C. Adams and wife Linda, and Philip "Eddie" Adams, all of Gettysburg; her sister, Shelby J. Bowser of Biglerville; five nieces, Barbara Rudisill, Sharon Martin, Karen Bowser, Carrie Soliday, and Kristine Minner; two nephews, Kenneth J. Adams and Michael C. Adams; nine great-nieces; two great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary G. Adams.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Rev. Jeanette D. Leisk and Brother Donald Stine officiating. A viewing will be held between 7 and 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A second viewing will begin 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
