Dora P. (Smith) (Peake) Fitzberger, passed away on Friday October 31, 2014 at 11:30 p.m. at her home.

Born September 23, 1924 in Gettysburg. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Harold and Ruth Hanna (Myers) Smith.

Dora graduated from high school in Brentwood, Maryland. She worked at Essex Wire in Gettysburg, Carroll Shoe in Littlestown and SKF in Hanover until she retired. Dora enjoyed bus trips, reading, puzzles and meeting the Recycled Teenagers for breakfast until her illness.
Dora is survived by four children, sons, Raymond Peake of New Jersey, Phillip Peake and his wife Diane of Colorado, James Fitzberger of Colorado, daughter; Beverly Peake with whom Dora resided; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters; Nancy Bowers and Lorna Runk, both of New Oxford.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Nicole Peake, a sister Edith Lehigh, and a brother Charles Smith.

A service to celebrate the life of Dora Fitzberger will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Rev. Shawn M. Berkebile officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
