Donald Blair Thomas, 84 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Transitions. He was the loving husband of Virginia Mae (Shindledecker) Thomas who died January 16, 2015.
Born June 21, 1932 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Blair and Louise (Tice) Thomas.
He was a truck driver for R.F. Trusdale, Biglerville and Arco, Carlisle. Donald retired from the custodial department of the Gettysburg School District. He was a member of Gettysburg Foursquare Church and enjoyed hunting.
Donald is survived by his son James Thomas and wife Carolyn, Gettysburg; sister, Gwili Taylor and husband Robert, Aspers; grandchildren, Amanda Thomas, Dillsburg, Tyler Thomas, Dillsburg, Kristen Hancock and husband Ian, McKnightstown and Derek Thomas and wife Carolyn, Gettysburg and great grandchildren, Aiden Butler, Kasen Kunkle, Logan Thomas, Isaiah Hancock and Evania Hancock.
In addition to his parents and wife Donald was preceded in death by his son, David Thomas.
A service to celebrate the life of Donald B. Thomas will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA, with Rev. Mark Chester officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Wednesday from 10 am until the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Pallbearers will be Kevin Taylor, Cole Taylor, Derek Thomas, Ian Hancock, Steven Taylor and Josh Taylor.
